Working principle of EDI equipment：
Electricity to ion (EDI) system is mainly under the effect of dc field, move through the water dielectric directional ion happen of partition, the choice of the use of ion exchange membrane was carried out on the water quality purification through role of a scientific water treatment technology.

A dc field is added between the anode (+) and the cathode (-) on both ends of the module.
The potential causes the ions to be transferred to the resin to move along the surface of the resin and into the thick water chamber through the membrane.
The anode attracts negative ions (such as OH, CI). These ions, through the anionic membrane, enter the thick flow of water and are blocked by the cationic selection membrane, thus remaining in the strong current.
The cathode attracts the cations in the pure water flow (e.g. H, Na).
These ions pass through the cationic selection membrane, and the dense flow of water entering the phase is separated by the anionic membrane, thus remaining in the strong current.
When the water flows through the two parallel Chambers, the ions are removed from the pure water chamber and accumulated in the adjacent thick current, then carried away from the module by the strong current.
The use of ion-exchange resin in pure water and concentrated water is the key to ElectropupreEDI technology and patents.
An important phenomenon occurs in ion-exchange resin in the pure water chamber.
In localized areas of high potential, electrochemical reaction decomposition water produces a large number of H and OH.
The production of local H and OH in the mixed bed ion exchange resin allows the resin and membrane to continue to regenerate without the need to add chemicals.
The EDI membrane reactor is composed of units sandwiched between two electrodes.
There are two different types of rooms in each unit: the salt water chamber and the concentrated water chamber where the impurities are removed.
Fresh water chamber with blending Yang, anion exchange resin filled with these resin lies between two film: only allow cation through a cation exchange membrane and only allow anion through anion exchange membrane.
Resin bed by using dc on opposite sides of the chamber for continuous regeneration, voltage causes the water molecules in the water into H + and OH -, these ions in the water by the corresponding electrode, through the Yang, anion exchange resin on the corresponding membrane in the direction of migration, when the ion exchange membrane into the thick chamber, H + and OH - combine to form water.
The generation and migration of this H + and OH - is the mechanism for the continuous regeneration of resin.
When the impurities such as Na + and CI - ions in water adsorption onto the corresponding ion exchange resin, the impurity ions will occur like common in mixed bed ion exchange reaction, and accordingly the displacement of H + and OH -.
Once the impurity ions in the ion-exchange resin are added to the H + and OH - to the transfer membrane, the ions will continue through the resin until it enters the concentrated water chamber through the exchange membrane.
The impurity ions due to the blocking effect of adjacent compartment exchange membrane are not moved further towards the direction of the corresponding electrode, so the impurity ions have focused on thick water chamber, then can draw off this containing impurity ions thick membrane reactor.
